Why does the Museum need to raise money? / Why isn’t Montana State University paying for this?

While the Museum is part of Montana State University, it is also a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and a community resource. Why should I give to the campaign?

The Campaign is vital to ensuring the future of the Museum of the Rockies. The Museum is a community educational resource even beyond its one-of-a-kind exhibits. One example is the important work the Museum does with school children. Thanks to generous donations from individuals and corporations, the Museum of the Rockies is able to provide free admission and tours of the Museum to organized school groups. Last year 1 out of every 11 Montana K through 12 students visited the Museum. Additionally, the Museum offers educational classes, camps, and programs for students of all ages.

Why should businesses and corporations contribute to the campaign?

The Museum is both a cultural treasure and a powerful economic engine for the local community. In 2007, more than 185,000 people came through the Museum’s doors, 2/3 of whom were residents from outside the Gallatin Valley. Your contribution to the Museum’s Capital Campaign ensures that this community continues to boast a strong arts culture that draws visitors and future residents to our area. Your business will also receive visual recognition in the Museum’s main lobby. Business memberships to the Museum are also available – click here for more information.

I already make an annual contribution to the Museum of the Rockies. Why should I contribute more?
